I am so excited to start a project for 2020 which I really believe in as a dyslexia specialist, special needs teacher, dyslexic adult and mum. Every child is entitled to be able to read as a life long skill and have a love of reading. There is such a thing as the 'reading gap'

( https://www.suttontrust.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/READINGGAP.pdf ) which is the divide between advantaged and disadvantaged families. This gap means that a child from a disadvantaged family may not have the same reading ability as a child from an advantaged when they leave education. This can be for a number of reasons not only financial. This gap often starts at home when a child isn't exposed to print from a young age and doesn't develop a love of reading. I aim to help and support families in closing the gap by providing disadvantaged families with a home library, not just one or two books, for them to enjoy with their family. This not only develops a life long core skill but also develops relationships and social skills when reading with family members.
